The Church of Sweden's position paper on agricultural development for poverty reduction and sustainable development for 2014-2017 is now available in English.
The course, held in Nairobi and West Pokot in Kenya, will be linked to a new research platform “the Triple L initiative” involving SLU, ICRAF, ILRI and universities in Sweden and Kenya. Travel expenses are covered for PhD students from SLU and PhD students from East Africa.
With two new issue briefs, presentations, blogging and social-media coverage, SIANI and its partner Focali will have a strong presence at the 10-14 February event in New Delhi, which will bring together more than 1,000 researchers, policy-makers, donors and members of civil society.
The Focali researcher Eskil Mattsson will travel to Delhi in February to attend the World Congress on Agroforestry, WCA. At the congress he will present his research from Sri Lanka about the agroforestry system "Homegardens". For Palm this implies research funding for four years, whereof one year will be spent at Columbia University with Professor Ruth DeFries and four month at ICRAF (World Agroforestry Centre).
The research project builds on Matilda Palm’s previous research on agroforestry and restoration of degraded land.
The postdoctoral position is supported by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). The aim of the project is to produce scholarly analyses and policy guidance on multilevel mechanisms and institutional arrangements for REDD+ results-based financing, including the role of the private sector and incentivizing non-carbon benefits.
