About the seminar:
Women’s rights to land is a hotly debated issue in today’s land tenure reform in Africa. The recent national Land Tenure Regularization Program in Rwanda has been hailed as a very positive example in this context. However, at a closer inspection it turns out to not being so unproblematic. These and other related issues are discussed by Jeannette Bayisenge.

The seminar is a presentation of the findings from Bayisenge’s PhD compilation thesis on women’s experiences of land rights in the context of Land Tenure Reform Program in Rwanda. The empirical study is based on fieldwork conducted in Rwanda in 2012 and 2013. Data were collected through structured and semi-structured interviews with women from agricultural households, as well as with local level policy implementers, women, and members of women’s associations.

No registration needed, hope to see you there!
