Seminar: effectiveness of policies aiming to halt tropical deforestation in supply-chains
Focalimember Martin Persson Professor at Chalmers will present a new research project (BEDROCK) that will build and apply an evaluation framework for a system-level understanding of the effectiveness of ongoing supply-chain policies aiming to halting tropical deforestation, with a focus on forestry and agricultural landscapes in Brazil, Cameroon and Indonesia.
The BEDROCK project is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, Stockholm
Environment Institute (SEI), Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Senckenberg Biodiversity & Climate Research Center in Germany, and is funded under the Belmont Forum collaborative research action on Systems of Sustainable Consumption & Production (SSCP).
The project has recently recruited three new post-docs to the project and at the seminar you will get the chance to meet two of them who just moved to Sweden and Gothenburg, Malaika Yanou new postdoc at Chalmers and Johanna Coenen guest-postdoc at Chalmers. They will present some of their previous research on local knowledge, integrated landscape approaches and globally tele-coupled land-use systems.
Welcome!
We particularly welcome researchers interested in interconnected forests, land-use, biodiversity, climate, food-system and livelihoods issues to this Focali seminar and mingle. However, all interested to know more about Focali and developments within our focus themes are welcome to join. Focali are arranging a series of informal meetings at different research environments in the network to connect new members with members that have been part of the network longer and to facilitate exchange and networking between different researchers that perhaps do not meet much even if based in the same town, as researchers from different parts of Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg.
Questions?
If you have questions about Focali or are a researcher within our thematic areas and want to become a member of the network please contact the Focali project manager Maria Ölund maria.olund@gu.se
