Madelene Ostwald has written a chapter in new Future Forests publication
The Focali researcher Madelene Ostwald has written the chapter “Climate-Related Forest Policies and Trends” in the book “The Future Use of Nordic Forests - A Global Perspective” from Future Forests published by Springer Verlag.
One conclusion the book makes concerns the current global trends of increased pressure on land-based resources and arable land. The authors state that this will have consequences for land-use even here in Scandinavia and imply difficult tradeoffs between different goals such as food, energy and industrial forest products. With this increased competition for land and related resources they believe that demands on policymakers and politicians will increase, there is thus a need for more effective governance systems and political leadership in the forest sector.
